Standardisation

International standardization includes among others cooperation with the European Telecommunication Standards Institute (ETSI) the National Institute of Telecommunications is a member of which. Representatives of the Institute fulfill expert's roles in working groups of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and the International Special Committee on Radio Interference (CISPR).

Domestic standardization includes cooperation with the Polish Standardization Committee (PKN) for which the Institute runs a Secretariat of the Technical Committee No. 11 for Telecommunications, responsible for implementation of European standards into Polish national standards. That applies mainly to ETSI and CENELEC standards.

Numerous employees of the National Institute of Telecommunications take part in standardization works. They are members of ten technical committees, authors of translations of standards, opinion giving experts and reviewers for such translations. Representatives of the Institute participate also in international standardization conferences.

In the Network of Excellence under the Sixth Framework Program NEMO, the National Institute of Telecommunications is a coordinator of issues associated with standardization in micro-optics.
